Re-Entry or The Incarceration Rate in the United States has quadrupled in the last 30 years, resulting in a Prison Population of more than 2.2 million at the end of 2005. Nearly 200,000 of those men and women are in Federal Prisons, while the remaining fill our nation's state prisons and local jails. One out of every 100 adults in America is incarcerated . The overwhelming majority of those incarcerated will be eventually released. Every year, approximately 630,000 offenders are released from prison, which means that these 630,000 offenders will be re-entering our neighborhoods and our churches. The Ministries of While Jericho Commission prides itself on being a resource center for Christian ministries working with ex-offenders, we are more than that. We fully train pastors and lay people that are willing to accept and Mentor Participants. Our comprehensive and ongoing Mentor Training equips men and women with the tools that they need to help the Participant succeed in society. But the training does more than benefit the Participants; it has also proven itself a blessing to the Mentors who take the training. Many churches that have opened their doors to ex-offenders have found their congregations re-invigorated with a desire to grow, and to grow closer to God. |
